LOVE AND DESIRE

Within every human heart there is a desire to love and be loved. A desire for companionship, fellowship, and relationship. Being made in the image of the triune God, we were made for connection and communion. Someone to share experiences with. A significant other to make lasting memories with. Someone to walk with us in the journey of life. Someone to have and to hold when we’ve lost everything and it seems like there’s nothing else to hold on to. This desire for a love relationship is a good desire. In fact, it is a divine desire.

And the God that created us with this desire has promised to grant it to those who delight in Him. His Word says to us, “Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:4-5, KJV).

Only as we find our highest delight in our vertical relationship with God will we be fully ready to experience the delights of a horizontal relationship with a significant other. God desires fellowship with us. He longs to connect with us in the deepest possible way. And when we connect with Him first, He will then make the love connection that will be like a match made in heaven. An earthly paradise before the sweet paradise above.

That is not to say there won’t be cloudy days of conflict and controversy in the connection. But it’s the assurance that when the days are difficult and the nights are dark, the divine Light from the heavens will guide us in the safe and sure path, and our days will be filled with love, laughter, and life!

And so, I encourage you, whether you’re young or old, married or single, find delight in divinity for divinity finds delight in you! Allow heaven to give you a new heart with holy desires. And as you seek Jesus first and His righteousness, everything else will fall into place. So don’t rush and don’t settle. Wait patiently and keep yourself in purity. For when you let God write your love story, it will always be a happy ending!
